Since Toka enjoys agility so much, I’ve slowly been introducing him to weaves. Click on the colored (green?) phrase below for a short video. You’ll see that I use my body to cue him (step in, he goes through poles, step out to pull him out). Once he’s more confident and has more experience, I’ll slowly fade this, until I can simply trot alongside him.
This is one of his first efforts in doing a sequence of obstacles which includes weave poles. It’s probably not a typical way to teach a dog to go through poles, but it’s working for us. I have no doubt that within a few weeks he’ll be a weaving fool.
