Toka proved that he is far (far) better at agility than his handler this weekend. Somehow, despite me, he rocked four classes at a two-day CPE trial, ending up with four first place finishes and 2 shiny new titles.
Every mistake that we made were due to my unclear cues – and yet, despite these, he somehow pulled it together enough to succeed. Toka loves this sport. He loves to run, jump, climb and be athletic.
We are lucky that there’s a fantastic agility center – Paws for Thoughts Farm – a mere 40 minutes from home. We’re even luckier that our initial agility classes were with Loretta Mueller. Ever thought ‘there’s no way that someone could learn agility through on-line classes? ‘ Guess again. That’s how Toka got his rock-solid foundation in the sport.
Here’s Toka, resting after his fun-filled and successful weekend.
And here’s Toka showing what he *really* thinks about his ribbons and titles:
This weekend tired him out. Last night he slept right through dinner prep. I left his fine cuisine near his head as he slept solidly; when I checked 15 minutes later, his bowl was licked clean and he was snoozing again.
Here’s a vid of one of his runs yesterday.
Toka clearly likes agility! Those pesky hander errors…
