It’s been over 2 months since I posted. Toka & I did very little this summer, outside of training. It’s just too hot for him. Of all of my (younger) Akitas, he seems to suffer the most in the heat, so if it’s after 9 a.m or before 6 or 7 in the evening, we don’t work.
In terms of training, we’ve worked a bit of obedience, agility, nose work, some barn hunt, and a tiny bit of tracking. Now that it’s getting cooler, I hope we can do more!
Today Toka added another accomplishment to his list. He passed the American Temperament Testing Society’s temperament test with flying colors. I’m proud of him. He went through each station calmly & with aplomb, though he was a typical Akita in his aloofness with the ‘friendly stranger.’ Here’s the link to a description of the test: http://atts.org/tt-test-description/
Link to his video is here.
And here’s another video of his very first agility sequences. We’re moving slowly, but are making progress.
Love His Redness! Just love my boy.
Congratulations on your temperament test!
